Interesting interview with Rüdiger Safranski, in which he explains the two philosophical poles he was drawn to during the early 1960s: one side of him inspired by a story of Heidegger walking through a snowy evening to deliver a Hölderlin talk to an expectant village hall audience; the other, inspired by stories coming from Frankfurt about Adorno, the philosopher with “stetson and chainsaw”.

I knew about the stetson but not about the chainsaw. Intriguing.
